We are looking for a highly skilled AI Engineer / Applied AI Developer who is passionate about building real-world AI-powered systems. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply familiar with modern AI tooling and enjoys working at the intersection of LLMs, agent-based systems, and production-grade Python applications.
You will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing AI-driven workflows and applications using state-of-the-art tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Hugging Face, LangChain, and intelligent user agents.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI-powered applications and workflows using Python
- Build and orchestrate LLM-based systems using LangChain and related frameworks.
- Develop and manage AI agents capable of reasoning, tool usage, and task automation
- Integrate and deploy models from Hugging Face (transformers, embeddings, fine-tuning, inference)
- Use Claude Code and Cursor to accelerate development, refactoring, and debugging
- Implement prompt engineering, memory, retrieval (RAG), and tool-calling strategies
- Optimize performance, reliability, and cost of AI systems in production
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate ideas into scalable AI solutions
- Stay up to date with the latest AI tooling, models, and best practices
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Hands-on experience with LLMs (Claude, GPT, open-source models, etc.)
- Solid experience using LangChain
- Practical knowledge of Hugging Face (models, pipelines, datasets, fine-tuning)
- Experience building or working with AI agents / user agents
- Familiarity with Claude Code and/or Cursor
- Strong understanding of prompt engineering and LLM workflows
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
- Availability to work full-time, Monday through Friday, aligned with Pacific Standard Time (PST), from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Advanced English proficiency is required for effective communication with the U.S.-based team.
Nice to Have
- Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, FAISS, Weaviate, Chroma, etc.)
- Experience deploying AI systems (Docker, cloud platforms, APIs)
- Knowledge of RAG architectures and embeddings
- Experience with automation tools or multi-agent systems
- Background in ML, NLP, or data engineering
What We Offer
- This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from Guatemala while collaborating with the U.S.-based team.
- This position is offered under an independent contractor agreement.
- Observance of U.S. holidays, in alignment with the company’s holiday calendar.
- Two (2) weeks of paid time off per year, to be scheduled in advance and subject to approval.
Contractors are expected to provide their own computer and required equipment.
